Was Shakespeare ever really in love? On 27 November 1582, he registered to marry Anne Whateley. But, the next day, he bought a licence to marry Anne Hathaway. So begins the story of Shakespeare’s tangled affections... Did he mean to marry them both? Did he actually love them both? And who was the dark lady of the sonnets? Passion, cross-dressing and heartbreak abound in this (sort of!) new play that takes on one of literary history’s greatest mysteries: Will Shakespeare in love... and in love...and in love!
