Abandon

A new play about holding on and letting go.

A group of aspiring actors meet every week in a rehearsal room. Abandon, a new play devised by the Lyric Ensemble for a brand new performance space at the Lyric, chronicles their time together.

Abandon:
Noun
complete lack of inhibition or restraint.
Verb
To desert; give up completely

Abandon is a series of intimate glimpses into the day-to-day lives of 15 Londoners, their hopes, dreams and disappointments. It examines how we see ourselves, how others see us and our place in the world.

Abandon is a love letter to the theatre, a piece about the power of the imagination and the importance of coming together.

The Lyric Ensemble is a group of 15 actors working and training two nights a week over nine months with international director Anne-Louise Sarks (Seventeen), the Lyric’s Director of Young People Nicholai La Barrie, the Lyric’s Artistic Director Sean Holmes and the Lyric’s Artistic Associates to create this brand new show.

Lyric Ensemble members are part of the Lyric for a year and receive mentoring, careers advice and pastoral support from the Lyric team. To find out more about the Lyric Ensemble click here.
