Never miss another 'Drowners' show
In January, Drowners released their self-titled debut LP, a breezily infectious punk-pop sprint which sounded like the very best moments of rock history crammed into less than 30 minutes of pure hedonism. Based in NYC, the city’s signature up-all-night energy courses through the album’s veins, although it does bring with it a tinge of sweet melancholy as well.
Comprised of frontman Matt Hitt, Jack Ridley III (guitar, vocals), Erik Lee Snyder (bass), and Lakis E. Pavlou (drums), Drowners will be bringing their kinetic live show – honed by supports with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Vaccines, Cage the Elephant and others – to the UK this summer, playing a slew of headline dates before embarking on a tour with likeminded partners Peace straight after.
Make sure you don’t miss what is sure to be a raucous string of shows indeed!
Drowners are an American alternative rock band formed in New York in 2011 by Matthew Hitt (lead vocals, guitar), Jack Ridley III (lead guitar), Erik Lee Snyder (bass) and Lakis Pavlou (drums). Their first release was the EP Between Us Girls which appeared in early 2013. In January 2014 their eponymous debut album was released worldwide.
Drowners are said by some to be part of the ongoing Britpop renaissance (Blur and Pulp reforming, new bands like Blackeye forming), but really they have more in common with the early-noughties CBGBs revival. Their music has as much in common with the late-70s UK new wave era as it does the US one, and their songs recall punk at its most pop!
