On Monday July 10, Word In Your Ear presents Eight Miles High - The Byrds plus two decades of rock and roll stars.

Johnny Rogan has finally finished his epic account of the tangled story of the Byrds and is over from Ireland for what promises to be a fascinating evening on the Crosby, McGuinn, Gram Parsons and the whole ragged cast of firebrands and malcontents.

Anyone who heard his WIYE podcast on Ray Davies – or read his marvellous Morrissey and Marr: The Severed Alliance – will know the level of wit, insight and knowledge to expect from Byrds: Requiem For The Timeless Vol 2.

The night kicks off with Keith Altham, the only British writer to witness the Monterey Festival, which took place fifty years ago this month. Keith interviewed the Beatles, Stones, Zappa, Hendrix, Scott Walker and countless others and became the UK’s most pre-eminent – and long-suffering – press agent blessed with Van Morrison, the Who, the Police, Rod Stewart, the Jam and the Stranglers.
