Next Big Thing 2011: The King Blues + Twin Atlantic + Sharks
The name is somewhat misleading, as these Hackney boys do not so much sing the blues as deliver 'conscious rudeboy ska'. Fronted by the ballsy Jonny "Itch" Fox, the band take a raw, punk-rock attitude to ska, with autobiographical songs and 'a commitment to politics and resistance'. Their influences range from Public Enemy to The Clash to The Specials. But what makes this outfit so different is their blend of ska and punk is regularly accompanied by a ukulele!
The King Blues tour dates
Glaswegian quartet bringing heavy rock across the country with stabbing guitars and vocalist Sam McTrusty's charming style.
Twin Atlantic tour dates
Following on from the debut 2008 'Shallow Waters' EP and the much acclaimed 2010 follow up 'Show Of Hands' EP, and the Radio 1 play listed single 'Sweet Harness', Sharks released their debut full length album, 'No Gods', in March 2012. Produced and recorded with Brian McTernan (Thrice, Cave In, Hot Water Music) in Baltimore at his Salad Days studio.
