Songs Of New York City
A celebration of some of the great songs born in New York and the artists and songwriters who have made it the birthplace of so much of the modern repertoire of popular song.
This night centres on that most fertile period of the 1970's - "the album-buying decade" - when Laura Nyro, Carole King, Janis Ian, Paul Simon and Phoebe Snow were some of the most innovative and prolific names in music and Carole Bayer Sager and Billy Joel were writing and performing so many memorable - often beautiful - pop songs. Todd Rundgren sneaks in on a technicality!
