The Legacy of Learning
As Tate Modern prepares for its extension and a new way of engaging its audiences in learning, this event takes the BMW Thought Workshops programme of 2013/14 and other projects as a case study and departure point for a critical discussion around the following questions. What is the purpose and legacy of long-term projects in the art museum context? How have these projects and collaborations between artists and the public transformed the way we think about current artistic practice, learning and the role of the museum? How does an art institution and its function change when it invites the public to collaborate and co-shape its programme? How does the mixed economy funding model influence the nature and framework of the projects that it supports?
Join us for a unique opportunity to reflect on past activity and contribute your opinion to how institutions like Tate can create a different future.
