Music And Place
The Barnes Choir present three works connected through their associations with different places.
The Chichester Psalms by Leonard Bernstein were commissioned by Walter Hussey, Dean of Chichester Cathedral, in 1964 for the Three Choirs Festival whilst Bob Chilcott's vibrant and varied cantata evokes a contemporary impression of London's sights, sounds and moods.
Handel was one of the charter founders of the London Foundling Hospital and his Foundling Hospital Anthem was written to be performed at the Hospital as a benefit for the organization to complete its then unfinished chapel.
