Messiaens Quartet For The End Of Time
Inspired by the Book of Revelation, Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time was composed during his internment in a German prisoner-of-war camp and premiered in 1941, performed by and for fellow prisoners. St Lawrence Jewry provides the solemn setting for what The New Yorker called the most ethereally beautiful music of the twentieth century.
