Giovanni Grano, Paolo Devecchi & Salvatore Seminara Duo

Giovanni Grano is one of Italy’s foremost guitarists. He studied guitar with Ruggero Chiesa in Milan and Oscar Ghiglia in Siena and composition with Franco Donatoni. He went to on to a very successful international career playing in prestigious venues worldwide.

Apart from his work as a soloist he is a dedicated chamber musicians and his many collaborations include the violinist Vadim Brodski, the Janacek Quartet and Mozart Chamber Orchestra of Prague. As a musicologist he has published many works on the guitar for publishers such as Bolzani and Berben. He has given masterclasses in conservatoires and universities in 20 countries including Columbia and Yale Universities in the US.

Programme includes work by Guiliani, Bellucci, Paganini and Turina Paolo Devecchi and Salvatore Seminara Duo Is the foremost Italian Guitar Duo. They began playing together in the mid 1990s when they were both students and they have performed hundreds of concerts at important international music festivals all over the world since.

The duo focussed initially on the comprehensive standard repertoire for guitar duo but in more recent times they gradually gravitated towards their own compositions. The original works written by both players, although based the classical tradition, takes inspiration from a wide range of musical styles and genres creating something new, individual and distinctive Recently the Duo published the CD 'Phares'.

Programme includes music by Vivaldi, Devecchi and Seminara.
