Mozart: Symphony no. 36 in C major, K. 425 "Linz"
-Interval-
Brahms: Piano Concerto no. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83
Ariel Lanyi, piano

This concert will feature young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music playing two iconic works. Mozart's "Linz" Symphony, written during a stopover in Linz on the way to Vienna from the composer's birthplace in Salzburg, presents in the most subtle and elegant manner a vast variety of styles and emotions. Written nearly a century later, Brahms's second piano concerto, unlike the youthful and heroic first concerto, is a work whose wistfulness and intimacy are almost unusual to the genre of the concerto, as heard most clearly in the cello solo at the beginning of the slow movement.

We are extremely grateful to Talent Unlimited for the generous support. All proceeds from this concert will go to the Israel Philharmonic Foundation UK.
