The Fruit Trilogy
West Yorkshire Playhouse, in association with Southbank Centre, present the world premiere of The Fruit Trilogy. Directed by Mark Rosenblatt and written by Eve Ensler, the Tony Award-winning writer of The Vagina Monologues, The Fruit Trilogy explores the lives of four extraordinary, ordinary women.
Avocado (first seen at the Playhouse in 2015), Pomegranate and Coconut reveal, with dark humour and powerful emotion, the humanity behind the headlines. Presented as part of Southbank Centre’s WOW - Women of the World festival, this performance marks the world premiere of the piece performed in one evening as a trilogy.
Please note, this performance contains some scenes of an adult nature.
Avocado
A young woman’s funny, shocking, poetic journey towards freedom.
Coconut
A survivor, a woman, begins to enjoy the one thing she has never fully owned: her body.
Pomegranate
A regular working day in the life of a brothel, as seen through the eyes of two women.
