Do Not Yet Fold Your Wings
This performance installation meditates upon the ageing body.
The title is taken from a poem by Rabindranath Tagore, woven in three languages through an immersive soundtrack.
Video projections of the dancer's body caress the earth or climb and fly. They are choreographed, filmed and projected so as to elude gravity.
The red swathes of sari evoke Indian temple imagery and Renaissance painting.
Swirls of salt on the floor, like the ghost of an ocean of tears or sweat, preserve the traces of past dances and act as a kind of notation for future ones.
The installation by Ansuman Biswas has grown out of a conversation with dancer Bisakha Sarker, musician Chris Davies and choreographer Marc Brew.
