Women Like Us
16 women from various backgrounds give riveting first-hand accounts of their lives, loves and relationships. Covering landmarks in lesbian history such as the Gateways Club and the first lesbian magazines, Arena 3 and Sappho, Women Like Us is a warm and personal history of the changing face of lesbian life and culture in Britain from the 1920s to the 1990s.
Women Like That
This short film catches up with eight of the 16 lesbians to find out how making the film changed their lives and the reactions they received. They talk frankly about their sexual relationships, dealing with the end of a relationship and their thoughts and fears about ageing.
The films were made for Out On Tuesday on Channel 4, a queer-themed range of programmes which were ground-breaking at the time in covering subjects and topics that very few other channels or programmes were talking about.
