Judith Bingham: New work for organ (World premiere)
Jehan Alain: 3 Danses
Interval
Olivier Messiaen: Les corps glorieux
Described by The Guardian as a ‘superb and serious’ organist, Stephen Farr frequently champions contemporary music.
The evening’s works delve into themes of transfiguration and transformation. Messiaen’s magnificent spiritual exploration, subtitled ‘seven short visions of the life of the resurrected ones’ is presented alongside Alain’s introspective Three Dances, evoking a trio of key human experiences – joy, sorrow and strife.
Stephen Farr also performs a new work by Judith Bingham specially commissioned by Southbank Centre, Paul Griffiths and Joanna Marsh.
