Singing For Better Breathing
People who sing have always known the benefits it brings.
Now science is catching up and research is starting to show the measurable health benefits that regular singing provides. Across the UK there are now many singing groups for people affected by long-term health conditions – dementia, Parkinson’s, mental illness and lung disease.
An exciting new project is soon to start in Lambeth and Southwark, studying the value of singing for people with chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD). Hear directly from people with COPD about the benefits they have gained from singing and learn about plans to set up new singing groups.
The project is led by the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health and Canterbury Christ Church University, with funding from Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Charity.
