Can an online movement help end sexual harassment and assault? In October 2017, the #MeToo hashtag uncovered the global scale of sexual assault and harassment.

First used by activist Tarana Burke for her Me Too movement and popularised by actor Alyssa Milano in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein allegations, #MeToo and equivalents in Arabic, Hindi, French and Spanish became a rallying cry and show of solidarity for survivors – mostly women, but some men too.
