Queens, Heroines And Ladykillers - A Tribute To Lorraine Hunt Lieberson

A programme of works comprising:

Handel: Overture: Giulio Cesare
Handel: L'angue offeso mai riposa from Giulio Cesare
Handel: Ah! Whither should we fly... As with rosy steps the morn from Theodora
Handel: Concerto Grosso in B minor Op 6 No 12

Handel: Overture: Theodora
Handel: Lord, to Thee each night and day from Theodora
Handel: Dopo notte from Ariodante
Handel: Concerto Grosso in Bb Op 3 No 2
Handel:Svegliatevi nel core from Giulio Cesare

Noted for her dramatic vocal ability, as well as her commitment to baroque performance, Lieberson worked closely with the OAE at Glyndebourne and on CD, and was the inspiration for the Orchestra's series Queens, Heroines and Ladykillers, celebrating feisty female roles in opera and the singers who perform them. This final tribute concert features the Handel arias Lieberson was revered for, performed by three rising young opera stars Stéphanie d'Oustrac, Anna Stephany and Renata Pokupi? and conducted by baroque specialist William Christie.
