Notes On Chai

Following acclaimed performances in India, Joyti Dogra’s Notes on Chai is a collection of snippets of everyday conversations interwoven with abstract sound explorations, exploring the inner and outer landscape of urban life through everyday conversations using metaphors created with the body, voice, and text.

A collage of images, stories and segments, the piece attempts to create a collective experience of life in big cities, with sound explorations inspired by Tibetan chanting techniques, overtone singing and extended vocal technique. The humour of Notes on Chai created through these details carries within it, desires, fears and insecurities of the everyday that remain unsaid and yet palpable.
