This is the first of two Royal Festival Hall recitals from the great Italian pianist Maurizio Pollini.
He is regarded by many as 'indisputably one of the greatest pianists of our time' (The Guardian).
Catapulted to fame upon winning the International Chopin Competition in 1960, Pollini soon developed a career featuring a vast breadth of repertoire – from Bach to the music of his own contemporaries such as Luigi Nono and Pierre Boulez – and seeming equally at home in most composers along the way.
