Mozart Requiem
Following their highly successful performance of Handel's Messiah in 2012, over 300 voices from the Hackney Singers and Lewisham Choral Society reunite at the Festival Hall to perform the sublime Mozart Requiem and the lesser known but beautiful choral work, Nänie, by Brahms. They are joined once again by the Forest Philharmonic Orchestra who will also perform Brahms' ever popular St Anthony Variations. They are joined by 4 distinguished soloists from the concert hall and opera stage.
Lewisham Choral Society and Hackney Singers are 2 of London's most popular choirs, performing locally and in major venues including the Southbank, Cadogan and Fairfield Halls. Both choirs were honoured to take part in the opening ceremony to the Paralympic Games in 2012. Under Artistic Director Mark Shanahan, tonight's orchestra has gained an impressive reputation for the high quality and vitality of its performances, and is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.
