Award-winning sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar returns to Southbank Centre.
The Shankar name is synonymous with Indian classical music and with the sitar. As trailblazing as her legendary father Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar continues to push the limits of her instrument.
Breaking boundaries not only in the traditional Indian classical form but also working with new sounds and art forms has earned Anoushka no fewer than four Grammy nominations.
After a sold-out performance at the Royal Festival Hall in May 2014, Anoushka Shankar returns with an innovative, cutting-edge programme addressing themes of movement, asylum and refugees – a topic that deeply inspired the creative process of composing her most recent album Land of Gold.
