Apex Predators

Two leading novelists – Evie Wyld and Sarah Hall – discuss their fascination with deadly predators.

Evie Wyld was a girl obsessed with sharks, which surface in both her acclaimed novels. Her new memoir Everything is Teeth – written in collaboration with Joe Sumners – embraces this toothy obsession.

Sarah Hall's epic new novel The Wolf Border imagines a not-too-distant future in which a wolves are reintroduced to the borderlands of a newly independent Scotland, unleashing an unpredictable wildness into this divided landscape.

In an age of YouTube videos of shark attacks and debates about reintroducing wolves to Europe, are these predators circling closer to us than ever? Why have they preyed on our imaginations since ancient times? And what can they tell us about our own wild sides?
