Voices Now: City Songs : Imogen Heap + Holst Singers
Voices Now closes with City Songs, a new commission by Eriks Esenvalds with libretto by Australian poet Emma Jones, performed by six choirs and Grammy Award winner Imogen Heap, who returns to the Roundhouse following her appearance at Reverb 2012.
A stranger (Imogen Heap) arrives in a city. She encounters the things and people that give the city its music; her journey is one through both place and song.
City Songs is a one-hour piece written for an orchestra and six choirs that reflect a wide range of singing traditions and include: Holst Singers, Codetta, Roundhouse Choir, Green Street Blues, Funky Voices and St Mary’s School Choir. They are joined by the City of London Sinfonia and conducted by Stephen Layton.
This event takes place at The Roundhouse, which has achieved Gold Status for disabled access from Attitude Is Everything.

Imogen Heap
A singer songwriter of astonishing emotional eloquence, and one half of the art-rock band Frou Frou. Classically trained when she was younger, her own songs explore electronica, alternative pop and rock and Euro-pop. 'Although she employs bells and whistles from equipment I can't comprehend and instruments I can't pronounce, the songs are so well-written, they would stand on their own'- Performing Songwriter.
