Shalosh Trio, Enrico Pieranunzi Trio

A brilliant double-bill featuring Italian jazz great Pieranunzi exploring the classic tradition and Israeli/Brooklyn based newcomers Shalosh drawing on rock, electronica and beyond.

Italian piano great Enrico Pieranunzi, a superior post-bop player influenced by Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner but long possessing his own sound. With a career spanning some 40 years, he has worked with the likes of Kenny Wheeler, Chet Baker, Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz, to name but a few. Fusing classical piano techniques with that of jazz, Italy’s ‘jazz poet’ is described as having intense lyricism, while not losing that ability to swing with energy and freshness. Here he appears with Jasper Somsen on double bass and André Ceccarelli, drums.

Based between NYC and Israel, Shalosh features Gadi Stern on piano, Daniel Benhorin, double Bass and Matan Assayag on drums. The trio's genre-bending, acoustic, progressive, raw jazz sound has been turning the heads of audiences internationally since the release of their debut album “The Bell Garden”. Despite the classic Jazz trio format and the band members' deep root in Jazz and improvised music, Shalosh's music takes its own path across and between genres such as Rock, Classical, Electronic, African and Middle Eastern music.
