Kai Hoffman, Her Kombo, Jive Party DJs

This event is a jive dance night with live music from Kai Hoffman & her Kombo. It's set in one of the few remaining original decor ballrooms remaining in London, The Rivoli Ballroom. An amazing and nostalgic venue. A blast from the best of the past. You'll have seen the Rivoli many times before without realising it as it is regularly used for films, TV and music videos. Beginners welcome.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Kai Hoffman is a versatile, vivacious performer inspired by the sounds of the 1950s whose music possesses, in the words of one critic, “an insatiable joie-de-vivre rare in these cynical times” (Stephen Graham, Marlbank). Kai always looks like she’s just walked out of a 1950s Hollywood glamour shot, and has been described as possessing a “Marilyn Monroe look [and] lovin’ it style” (International Review of Music).

With three previous LPs under her belt, she has just released her second solo album, Luckiest Girl Alive (October 2015 check out iTunes) – a mixture of rhythm and blues and rock ‘n’ roll, with a dose of ‘50s New Orleans thrown in.

Kai has hosted her own monthly ‘40s and ‘50s club night, Live and Let Jive, at Soho jazz institution Ronnie Scott’s since 2008 – deemed “London’s coolest hepcat hangout” by The Stage, and awarded Critic’s Choice by Time Out London – and is considered part of the Ronnie Scott’s family, an honour not afforded to many at this world-famous club.
