Nathan Johnston, Jorge Crecis, Anna Borras & Elise Nuding

A dance triple bill: Nathan Johnston, Jorge Crecis, Anna Borràs and Elise Nuding present a mixed-up evening of magic tricks, city streets and contemporary dance.

Nathan Johnston presents Sleight of Hands: Enter the world of conmen and tricksters and follow four characters on a journey of betrayal and revenge. When there is no one to trust and everyone is out for themselves, who has the final laugh?

Sleight of Hands is Nathan’s first solo project as a choreographer, made in collaboration with award winning director and script writer Josh Baker-Mendoza and Cirque du Soleil magician Simon West. The project is supported by Arts Council England, Dance Middlesbrough, Middlesbrough Council, Middlesbrough Collage and Tees Valley Dance. Nathan is an Associate Artist of the collective SQx, led by Jorge Crecis.

Jorge Crecis presents Cairo: a new solo created on Anna Borràs: When The Heat Hits The Streets, you don't know if you're awake or dreaming. You don't hear a sound but there's something in the air. Your body is tired but the city keeps calling, pushing you further and taking you higher: turning your smoke into fire (extract from the lyrics of When The Heat Hits The Streets by Laura Branigan).

Anna Borràs and Elise Nuding present One to One: The work explores an encounter of two bodies, both with themselves and with one another. Anna and Elise met whilst re-creating and performing Jorge Crecis' 36 last year, but although they have danced together before this is their first collaboration. One to one represents an initial foray into their creative exchange, and is still at an early stage of development.
