Buy a Revolver is an interactive audio adventure telling the story of the remarkable Constance Markievicz, who - whilst in prison - was the first woman elected to the British Parliament.

Constance was an ambitious and important activist, heavily involved in the revolutionary nationalism movement in Ireland; she was jailed and originally sentenced to death for her role in the 1916 Easter Rising, although she was later recommended mercy "solely and only on account of her sex." When she was elected to the British House of Commons, Constance refused to take her seat, instead joining her Sinn Fe?in colleagues to create a new parliament.

Experienced through a mobile phone, Buy a Revolver tells the astounding story of a woman confined and fighting to liberate herself, her sex and her country. As audiences listen to the piece, meeting Constance herself, they will be led on a physical journey exploring confinement, the acts of looking out and looking in, revolution and risk.

The piece will involve walking, audience members will need to bring a mobile phone and headphones. This is an audio theatre piece where audiences will need to be comfortable walking for up to 30 minutes. Audiences will need a fully charged mobile phone.
