Midori Takada and The Light Surgeons: Tracing The Circle
Please note: Info provided by the Event Organiser
Contemplate time, place and the impermanence of being at a live music and cinema experience, in its world premiere.
Japanese composer and percussionist Midori Takada and UK audiovisual artists The Light Surgeons explore the rich cultural history of Japan.
Commissioned for the BFI’s major UK wide cinema programme: Japan 2020: Over 100 Years of Japanese Cinema, this audiovisual experience draws upon a collection of the oldest surviving films from Japan.
These date from 1894 to 1929 and are preserved and digitised by the BFI National Archive.
The Light Surgeons’ screen alchemy and Takada’s instrumental dreamscapes combine to create a rare, spellbinding journey.
The commission of a new score for this event has been generously supported by The Polonsky Foundation.
