The ‘demon dog of American literature’ comes to London for the first time in five years to discuss latest novel This Storm, the second in his new LA Quartet.
This Storm is a pulse-pounding historical crime novel set in a Los Angeles and Mexico gripped by war fever and racial hatred in the wake of Pearl Harbor. The design of the second LA Quartet series is unprecedented; Ellroy takes characters from the original LA Quartet and the Underworld USA Trilogy and places them in Los Angeles during World War II as significantly younger people. The first book in the quartet, Perfidia, was published in 2014.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from ‘one of the great American writers of our time', as described by the Los Angeles Times Book Review, in an event presented by Southbank Centre in collaboration with Penguin Live.
Ellroy was born in Los Angeles in 1948. His LA Quartet novels – The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential and White Jazz – have won numerous awards and are international bestsellers. Several of his novels have been made into acclaimed films.
