Ligeti And Electronics
A programme of
Stockhausen: Gesang der Jünglinge (Song of the youths) for tape & 5 loudspeakers
Berio: Thema (Omaggio a Joyce)
Joji Yuasa: Projection esemplastic for white noise
Ligeti: Glissandi for tape; Artikulation for tape
In this afternoon talk, Composition Professor at the Royal College of Music Michael Oliva discusses works by Ligeti and his contemporaries with recorded examples.
Although Ligeti himself did not compose a huge amount of electronic music during his lifetime, he was inspired by the experimental output of such artists as Stockhausen, who would use helicopters, tape recorders, and other synthesised sounds to create groundbreaking work.
