A Singing Journey Through The Steppes And The Shtetl

Learn beautiful old East European harmonies and modes in a two-hour taster workshop.

Release your creativity through transcendental songs, syllables and sound.

Polina Skovoroda’s teaching utilises a rich combination of Russian and East European Jewish Music. Her specially developed teaching methods are based on specific sound, ornamentation and modal experimentation with attention to the spiritual and emotional sides of musical creativity and the history and context of the material taught.

Born in Siberia, Polina Skovoroda started her musical training as a child at the family table. While living in Russia and studying at the State Academy, Polina toured the dark Soviet theatres, performed to Boris Yeltsin and travelled the world from 1998 to 2002. Now living in Britain, with over 20 years’ professional experience, Polina leads several choirs and continues to tour internationally.

Music lovers with any level of experience are welcome. Teaching is principally by ear and with the aid of sheet music. No knowledge of foreign languages necessary.
