Art And Light

In this special event which marks the opening of 'Light Show' at Hayward Gallery, artists featured in the exhibition including David Batchelor, Conrad Shawcross, Anthony McCall and Leo VIllareal discuss how light inspires their art.

'Light Show' at Hayward Gallery explores the experiential and phenomenal nature of light. The exhibition showcases artworks produced since the 1960s in which light itself is used as a material to sculpt and shape space.

Resisting the ever-increasing cultural temptation to think, work and move 'at the speed of light', these artworks challenge the viewer to slow down and consider the role of light in everyday life, exploring colour, duration, movement, sunlight and moonlight.
