The Joy Of Sketch: Brian Gittins, Will Franken, So On & So Forth, Lou Sanders & Grainne Maguire, Dan Cook
The glitzy sketch comedy extravaganza is back! Following a West End blow-out, two Udderbelly shows, the Bloomsbury and a bunch of Edinburgh gigs, The Joy of Sketch comes back to The Pleasance London. The finest sketch acts in the country come together for a one-off skit-heavy spectacular.
Please note that the artists appearing may be subject to change.
Comedian and star Of Ricky Gervais' Cemetery Junction. The alter-ego of David Earl (or Kev from Channel 4's 'Derek'), Brian Gittins is the owner of a roadside café somewhere off the A32. A couple of the café's regulars have said he's 'quite funny', so he's been attempting to make it in the world of comedy.
'... very funny, inventive and engaging comedy show' (The Daily Telegraph).

American Will Franken is a critically acclaimed satirist and high-speed, quick-change character comedian. Franken’s humour is rooted in the British sketch comedy tradition, notably Monty Python. Onstage, he portrays an eclectic mix of characters through a series of interconnected vignettes. His skits are often satirical, skewering a range of subcultures and political views, often absurdist.
'Strange, sometimes awkward, often funny and always interesting, Franken’s act is
like Marmite – ****ing awesome – and deserves an audience as big as his character roster' (Three Weeks)
'Amidst the anodyne wannabe TV comics who are 40% hair product, 40% ego and 20% talent there is still plenty of the real thing to be found, comedically. Will Franken... is absolutely brilliant. Iron satire in a velvet glove. Clever, creative comedy' (The Scotsman)
'The sharp-clawed satire on US culture and liberal piety, and the constant upending of what it is we think we're watching, make for a unique and compelling hour... You can't take your eyes off these inspired outpourings' (The Guardian)
'Will Franken is an astounding character comedian who makes almost everyone else in his field look like lazy chancers' (Chortle).

So On & So Forth are John Sheerman, Nick Gadd and Martin Allanson and they have been performing sketches since 2010. They came together with a desire to write and perform sketch comedy believing it was a great way to meet women. They were wrong. Their particular brand of sketch humour has been described as ‘Classically nihilistic’ and ‘a little dusting of genius’.
