Rodney P cut his teeth as a member of the late-80s hip-hop act London Posse. He has been touring constantly since then, as well as being involved in making radio documentaries and recording collaborations with artists such as Bjork and Roots Manuva. His solo material blends reggae and hip-hop to create intelligent music people can party to.

Blak Twang

Blak Twang appearing at this event

Blak Twang, aka Tony Rotten, is one of the pioneers of UK hip-hop and a Mobo award winner. He is famed for his live performances all around the world and his ability, especially in his earlier recordings, to include various South London word usage and slang as well as locations without sounding too obvious, making him a firm favourite with English hip-hop fans as the original, “Hip-Hop Geezer”.

Ty

Ty appearing at this event

Mercury Award nominated rapper / hip hop artists, Ty, was born in London in 1972 to Nigerian parents and released his debut album, The Awkward, in 2001. He earned a cult audience through his unique take on the US boom-bap style of rap. In 2003, he released the more commercial album Upwards which earned him a coveted Mercury Prize nomination. Ty found himself up against the likes of Amy Winehouse and The Streets but Franz Ferdinand eventually took the award. In 2019 Ty formed the hip hop supergroup, Kingdem, alongside Blak Twang and Rodney P. He sadly died in May 2020 at the age of 47 after contracting coronavirus.
