Arsonists

The city is burning. Arsons are rife. And nobody seems to want to put out the fire. This is what outrages Biedermann, a respectable businessman who has just plain had ENOUGH. The solution is clear. Someone needs to stop this. Someone needs to do what’s right. Someone needs to make a stand against whoever these arsonists might be. And then two strangers arrive at Biedermann’s door.

The Arsonists is “a moral play with no moral”, and a darkly funny play that sees Biedermann’s principles and sanity slowly unravel as he allows these sinister strangers and their twisted activities to draw him further into their world, as a Greek Chorus of firefighters watch from the sidelines.This version of Max Frisch’s black comedy from 1958 was first presented at the Royal Court Theatre in 2007.
