Join Poet in the City for an evening of poetry, discussion and reflection on life’s big questions through the words of Romantic poet William Wordsworth.

William Wordsworth was a poet with deep concern for the human condition and its relationship to the natural world. Raised amongst the vast beauty of the Lake District, nature provided a canvas to Wordsworth’s unending curiosity of human behaviour and the meaning of life. From his early poetry rooted in values for democracy and equality to his later work influenced by patriotic views, nature became a sounding board to Wordsworth’s growing fascination into the social scenes he encountered.

Remembered as a both poet with heightened emotional sensitivity, political awareness and artistic self-knowledge, and a poet that held vastly opposing political views throughout his lifetime, Wordsworth danced on the edges of life’s big questions.
