Anthony Joseph

British-Trinidadian poet, novelist, musician and academic Anthony Joseph is widely coined as ‘leader of the black avant-garde in Britain’. Join this multi-faceted artist as he turns the volume up to the frequency of magic in his new musically highlighted spoken word performance.

Playing on his inherent rhythmicity, Joseph draws on elements of jazz and Caribbean speech and music to deliver his pulsating story of an author writing a novel in which the characters have found a way to escape the rigid confinements of the text. Joseph’s words will ignite against a vibrant soundscape created by award-winning multi-instrumentalist Jason Yarde, who will be accompanying Joseph live.
