Seamus Heaney - Blackbird

A major poet of the twentieth century, Seamus Heaney is well known for his rich depictions of his native Ireland, tracing back through time to understand the history that sculpted its landscape and chronicling the reformative blows and rapid transformations shaping it and his own identity in the present day.

Poet in the City is proud to have collaborated with Heaney a number of times during his lifetime, hosting two events with the poet himself in 2010 and 2012, as well as a tribute event in 2014 following his passing. Five years on, we explore the inextricable relationship he formed with countless audiences worldwide and take a look at his extraordinary impact on contemporary literature.
