The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) teams up with the Institute of Physics and the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford to explore Bach’s cosmic music in their stimulating Sunday-morning service combining a scientific talk and a performance of a Bach cantata.
The Music
Written for the last Sunday before Lent, this cantata repurposes a famous tune from Bach’s St Matthew Passion and features lovely writing for an oboe and recorders.
The Science
‘My core interest has been in trying to think like a cell’, says UCL’s Buzz Baum, who works at the intersection of biology and physics, trying to understand how cells evolve.
