Are Electric Cars Rubbish?
"I'm Robert Llewellyn, probably best known as the actor inside Kryten, the mildly neurotic mechanoid in the long running sci-fi comedy series Red Dwarf - I've been driving electric cars for 7 years, I’ve driven a Nissan Leaf for 5 years (59,000 miles) and a Tesla Model S for 2 years (33,000 miles)
I’ve driven to Sweden and Italy in the Model S, I’ve driven to Scotland twice in the Nissan Leaf. Electric cars work, they are cheaper to run, easier to drive, are incredibly reliable and are becoming more popular very rapidly.
So what impact could they have on the environment, the economy, jobs, the energy industry and our day to day lives.
I have never seen electric cars as the answer to all our environmental and economic difficulties but they do open a door to make us consider the way we produce and consume electricity and energy in general.
They are a disruptive and game changing technology, in my talk I will explore all these topics and more, in a light and hopefully entertaining way."

The actor, comedian and writer is probably best known as 'Kryten' from Red Dwarf, and the presenter of Scrapheap Challenge.
