A night devoted to the music of the island of Crete, Greece and the Mediterranean at legendary east London venue Jamboree, with The Cretan Players. Live music from 8pm.
Cretan music is wild and unpredictable, markedly different to the disciplined bouzouki music of the Greek mainland, with endless melodies, one after the other in stomping rhythms, sometimes monotonous and archaic, sometimes almost ecstatic, and unmistakable Asian influence.
