Dr. Simone Krüger, Tiago Gomes

Agustín Barrrios "Mangoré" (1885-1944) is considered today as one of the greatest composers for guitar in Latin America, his works being part of the repertoire of the best guitarists in the world. However, his work was less appreciated during his lifetime and even long after his death.

In her talk, Dr . Simone Krüger, sociologist and musicologist at the University of Liverpool, will remember how Barrios was rediscovered in the mid 70s and how his followers have not stopped growing in number since then.

Portuguese guitarist Tiago Gomes will illustrate the talk with pieces of the composer.
