The Killing of Sister George
Written by Frank Marcus directed by Mike Mendé
June plays the popular "Sister George", a character in daily radio soap "Applehurst". Offair June is as boozy and difficult as her alter-ego is sweet and kind, spending most of her time with her much younger lover Alice aka 'Childie'. The ratings for the show are on the slide and killing off a major character would boost the audience. Will "Sister George" be spared the axe? What will it do to June and Childie if she isn't? This dark comedy played to great acclaim in the West End and on Broadway before being adapted to film in 1968.
