A Revolution In Sexual Politics
A celebration of the 50th anniversary of the (partial) decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.
A programme of words and music by gay composers including Britten, Poulenc, Barber, Tchaikovsky, Tippett, Copland, Noel Coward, Cole Porter, Ethel Smythe, and gay poets Proust, Oscar Wilde, Virginia Woolf, W H Auden, Lorca, Somerset Maugham and others, with readings from the diaries and journals of Christopher Isherwood, Joe Orton and Edward Carpenter, and ‘Coming Out’ quotes through history.
Performed by the winners of the two London Song Festival competitions in 2016; Eleanor Penfold (soprano), winner of the Schubert Song Prize and Tom Isherwood (baritone), winner of the British Art-Song Competition, with Nigel Foster (piano).
