Vian Et La Vie
Boris Vian's book L'Ecume des Jours was re-made as a film by Michel Gondry, but otherwise the treasures of his words have remained hidden to most English-speakers. His chansons are pockmarked with a bittersweet black humour brought on by the heart condition and the struggles of society that made each moment more tenuous.
Rachel Rose Reid introduces and sings Peter Scott-Presland's tender translations, as well as fitting companion pieces, accompanied by David Harrod.
