Jo Lawry

Australian-born, Brooklyn-based vocalist Jo Lawry’s debut album I Want to Be Happy was released in 2008 to rave reviews, and named among the “Best CDs of the Decade” by Downbeat Magazine. She has become known beyond jazz circles, however, for her work with Sting - with whom she has been recording and touring since 2009 - and more recently with Paul Simon. She was also featured in the recent Oscar-winning documentary, 20 Feet from Stardom.

Intimate storytelling meets the highest level of musicianship in Jo’s sparkling original songs, and she’ll spend a rare night off from the European leg of the Sting & Paul Simon tour at London's Green Note, playing two sets of her own music in celebration of the release of her new album Taking Pictures. She'll be joined by Will Vinson (former member of Rufus Wainwright's touring band, and well-known jazz musician in his own right) on piano.
