Lettres jamais écrites is a new play directed and conceived by Estelle Savasta, who's Going Through played to great reviews at the Bush Theatre last April.

"Write the one letter that you've never written..."

This was the instruction given to Year 11 pupils in Cavaillon, France, where writer Estelle Savaste was in residence for a year. Colin wrote to his dead grandfather from seven years ago, Maxime to the son she might one day have, Elisa to her existence... and so on.

Each one of these letters was then given to a writer who had to reply as if they were the one receiving the letter: replying as Colin's grandfather, Maxime's son, Elisa's existence...

The result is a rich tapestry of voices and experiences, that playfully explore what it means to be a person in the world today and asks the question: do we really know more the older we get?
