The South London Soul Train

Sat Mar 11 - The South London Soul Train is seriously on and set to take no Prisoners. Jazzheadchronic welcoming special guest DJ Scott Hendy aka Boca 45 and the positively storming live 21st century jazz fused audio incinerating Lack of Afro [Live] to The South London Soul Train stage at The CLF Art Cafe, Block A, Bussey Building www.residentadvisor.net/event.aspx?928776

Here for an epic journey deep inside the sounds of funked up, souled out, Jazz, funk rare groove and way way beyond + so much more across 3 floors and 4 rooms at The CLF Art Cafe.

Part of our on going, thrice a month mission to move your mind and body + force feed yoh soul with the absolute best of times!

Lack Of Afro (Adam Gibbons) has achieved a startling amount in the few years since his first releases on Freestyle records. With four highly acclaimed albums under his belt, touring live and DJing across the world, and producing and remixing everyone from Tom Jones, The Pharcyde, The New Mastersounds through to Kraak & Smaak - Lack of Afro also just releasing his fifth album “Music for Adverts”.

LOA has received huge support since the beginning from BBC Radio 1, Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music and has played multiple live sessions at Maida Vale studios in London. His tunes have been featured in TV and film in both the UK and US: from Sky Sports to HBO hit TV show Entourage, the Hollywood film “Magic Mike” and even inside the Olympic Stadium for London 2012. adam-gibbons.co.uk/

Then on Level 2, The Funks gonna hit the floor as The Legendary Snowboy and new SLST resident and heavyweight Vinyl digger Ben Gibson embark on a 7 hour marathon to find and deliver the absolute finest in funk on 45. Grooves to make you go hot, damn and how! Prepare yourselves.

Level 2 Room 2 - Time for The Hawaiian Bop Trip - Special guests / Hawaiian Bop DJ Richio Suzuki & Oscar Romp + Count Skylarkin' taking you on a strictly retrolicious Rock & Roll, 50's R N' B, 60's Soul & Motown, Vintage Ska & Latin journey from the love side. Aloha baby!

The South London Soul Train 4 Floor Line up completed on Level 3 - by new SLSt residents - Reach Up Disco Heaven hosted by The legendary DJ Andy Smith + Special guests dropping 80’s boogie, disco and photo house, evoking the spirit and dipping into the soundtrack of legendary NYC clubs such as 'Paradise Garage’ & 'Studio 54’. A night highlighting the sounds that emerged as the 70’s, turned into the 80’s and the DNA of club music as we know it today was being written.

Time to get yoh soul seriously on.

As always, all floors taking all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Brass, Breaks, Bop and Hop to Motown, Club Classics and Anthems.

However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this ones for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Soul.

Event Runs 10pm - 5am / £5/7/10/13 Adv from RA or £15 OTD / Now takes place on the 1st, 2nd + 3rd Sat of each month + on-going specials at The CLF Art Cafe www.clfartcafe.org + Beyond.

Note: 500 Tickets always available on the door. But please get there early as is always a roadblock, but once in it's well worth it.

Adam Gibbons is Lack Of Afro, drawing favourable comparisons to Mark Ronson and Quantic. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist he played the majority of instruments on his album himself but he is happiest behind a drum kit. Funk, soul and jazz-based sounds.

Snowboy appearing at this event

Playing a classic range of jazz funk tunes, Snowboy brings his disco-boogie, nu-jazz, old skool rap sound to dancefloors around the world. Latin percussionist, recording artist, former writer for respected hip-hop magazine Big Daddy, he's been DJing since 1978 and his deck skills have been in constant demand.
