The Shagaround

It's New Year’s Eve and the air is full of hope and expectation apart from the ladies toilets of the local dive where all is not well with Sal, Dilly, G, Lisa and Beth.

Someone’s been dumped, someone’s been two-timed and with fifty pounds at stake someone is going to pay. Then in walks 'The Shagaround', the perfect target for all the girls and what starts as a laugh ends up being more dangerous than they could have imagined.

Maggie Nevill is a British playwright. Her first, produced play, 'The Shagaround', was selected from The International Play-writing Festival in 1999, and was first performed as a rehearsed reading in Italian, in Italy. It was subsequently produced by The Warehouse and Nuffield theatres and toured from Southampton to Soho in 2001. It has been widely performed and translated and was published in France in 2008, under the title, 'Le Baiseur Fou'.

Actor Type Pals Theatre Company present their first production of Maggie Nevill’s ‘The Shagaround’. Actor Type Pals founder, Jessica Brady decided that instead of waiting for auditions and jobs to come to her and her very talented friends, that she would start up her own theatre company and put productions on, create work and get her actor pals involved.

Jess hopes this first production will be the start of many more to come for Actor Type Pals and couldn’t think of a better play to start off with than ‘The Shagaround’; 'I performed in a production of the play back in 2013 and loved the way it was written and felt that with my extremely talented and funny friends that I could have a crack at producing it and giving it a new life at the Canal Café Theatre'.
